The Great Antiphons of Advent

Free version. Who is begging whom in these Antiphons? You at the Bottom of everything that exists. All beings to you, at the Bottom of you

December 17: O Wisdom, you that order all things firmly and gently, come and show us the way of health!

December 18: O Beyond all names, Burning bush and Law of freedom, come and free us with the power of your arm!

December 19: O Sprout of the Tree of Life, which stands as a sign to the peoples, come and free us, do not delay!

December 20: O Key of History, which opens and no one can close, closes and no one can open, come and free the captives that live in the darkness and in the shadow of death!

December 21: O rising Light, Sun of justice, come and lighten those who live in the darkness and in the shadow of death!

December 22: O Desired by nations, you who make of all peoples only one, come and save the man that you created from the mud of earth!

December 23: O Emmanuel, hope of the nations and saviour of peoples, come and save us!
